Good Cause was started out of the conviction that regular, not random, acts of kindness change the world.
After discovering a wide range of needs in Harford and Cecil counties, Good Cause put the spot light on single parents and young people with untapped potential. Serving with no strings attached has become Good Cause's way of life from spa days to celebrate deserving single moms to educational seminars to providing baby clothes, shoes, toys and equipment to moms raising their children for greatness, and one of the largest Christmas toy drives for local children.
Good Cause launched on August 28, 2010 by feeding 100 families with a weeks worth of groceries the first week of school. Since its conception, we have become the go-to organization in Harford and Cecil counties when it comes to serving, supporting and strengthening single parents and their children. Over the years, we have served more than 1,000 local single moms, created opportunities for hundreds of volunteers to serve, partnered with dozens upon dozens of non profits and businesses, and provided gifts for hundreds upon hundreds of children.
Because we do not want anyone we assist to feel like a number - but part of our family, we kicked off a movement called: “Not a Number” in January of 2017. Every single mom has a story and every story matters to us no matter the depth of the struggle. We want everyone treated with dignity. Finding help should not make you feel less than human but should empower you to make humanity better.
